Default GM Splash Guard Install

I was thinking of installing a set of GM C6 splash guards on my 04 convertible. I have read most of the threads on the subject. I was thinking of using clips and additional molding tape rather than screws or plugs to hold them on. The idea of using a clip between the fiberglass and guard. Any thoughts or ideas, I really don't want to drill. The idea is to hold them on lilke pipedreams guards are held on the back.

I put a set of the Z06 rear splash guards on mine a couple weeks ago. I really don't think you'll be able to get the guards to fit well without screws because of the way you have to manipulate them to get them to fit. I am not 100% happy with the fit of mine. As soon as it warms up, I am going to take mine off and retrim and reinstall.

Thanks, I put a set on m 08 convertible and I used black silicone caulk and it really improved the install and looks. Just a bit on your fingers between the guard and body, then wipe excess. You might try it to see if it improves the look so you won't have to re-install. Any suggestions you have on doing the install is appreciated.

The black silicone worked GREAAT. I have a Arctic White 08 and after you run your finger between the body and the guard, you can't see any gaps. I was at a dealership, looking at a 11 GS and even they have a gap in the install. Try the silicone, I believe you will like the results. Get the good stuff, 30 year.

I installed a set of http://http://lewisfivemotorsports.com/products.html on the frt. and rear, But the fit was not good at all.
While my Vette was at a Corvette shop in Tulsa having things like headers, rear black out and other things done I had them install the Lewis C5 splash guards, The shop told me that's the best they can do, Looks like crap, So, I am removing them and trying to sand them so I might get a better fit, No luck yet.
While in the shop, they painted them Yellow like the car, so using the Black silicone is out, maybe I will try the clear. Double side 3/M tape won't hold because the fit is so bad.

L5 Guard after painting and ready to install

Installed on frt.

Note the fit, Tape will not hold in place

Rear Guard

Rear Gap, Needs to be sanded or filled.

Frt, Guard where tape will not hold in place.

Now to find something to fill and hold them in place, Sanding them is not getting me anywhere fast.

Wow dude...........I'm sorry.....I can't believe that a "Vette Shop" would say, "thats the best we could do"........
Yours looks just like mine, but mine to stick on the top side and I've got a little black screw in the top holding the top up.

Woah I agree you have some more trimming to do. I spent a couple hours a side on mine and they fit perfect. Even better than they fit on C6s. I am no skilled craftsman so believe me anyone can do it.

For yours I would say you need some more trimming on the top to get that bottom to fit more snug. You may also need to make some long strokes to make it smooth. I had a dremel so it made life a lot easier. Don't worry there were times when I thought I had them totally screwed up. Just take your time and it will be worth it.

When I put mine on 2 yrs.ago take your time and use a heat gun to make the tip plyable and over bend so that it fits tight when taped on
You can buy some texured black smi gloss paint for a nice finish

This was actually the second set I made for the car. I did the "wide" versions originally and didn't like them at all. The slim version that you see above is what is on the car. They blend in really nice and still do the job.
