Since the car's going to be parked a while I'm hoping to cure some rattles and shakes in the car.
What I'm looking for is common rattles, clinks, and shutters and their fixes. I've only had my vette a year and don't know where to start. My problems are:
Rattle behind the dash cluster
Rattle in the exhaust on shift
"Marbles in a can" sound from the tranny/diff.
mine has a rattle around the rear passenger's speaker that I haven't been able to find yet. I also have a horrible squeak from the rear suspension on the driver's side. its been driving me mad, I haven't been able to find the source. does it for 2-3 weeks after the last time the car got wet.
I thought I had a rattle behind my dash for the longest time and could not pinpoint it. What it ended up being was the line that runs into the driver's side fuel rail cover in the engine compartment right in front of the driver that was hitting the firewall and making a rattle. I zip tied it away from the firewall and no more rattle. I would have bet a hundred dollars that it was coming from inside the dash, but it sure wasn't.
I've got a chirp/squeeky sound coming from the rear passenger area of my car. Its very annoying and I can't pinpoint what is causing it. .
I had the same thing, when I removed my seats and re-installed them (stereo wiring) the chirp went away. I'm assuming something re-aligned in the latch mechanism or the seat was slightly sliding on a bolt.
Exhaust rattle/jingle may be due to H-Pipe. An X-Pipe will cure this.
Think so? does the H-pipe have a baffle or just inadequate support. Always though about an X-pipe. The popping sounds reminds me of my buddy's GTO and I can't have that
