There is nothing wrong with removing the intake or doing it the way in the video. I just didn't have the confidence of doing it with the swivels and wire. My luck, I would drop everything behind the motor, then have to pull the engine, LOL. I'm sure it may be pretty easy that way, just wasn't for me. This forum is great & what makes it great is that guys come up with different ideas for problems they and others have. I never criticize anyone for doing anything to their cars. I think some of the things they come up with are fantastic, I just don't have the nerve to do it. I had strong reservations about doing mine but did it any way. I surely don't expect everybody to do it just because I did. I'm glad I did, it was simple but to each his own.

If mine goes out again,,,first one lasted 79K,,,,I'm buying a new manifold AND cutting the cowling,,,,then I will need a new carbon fiber cowling,,,,won't I Honey?
Boy, I agree with that. Wish I had thought of it. BTW, you don't cut the top cowling, there is a fiberglass cowling below the top cowling that you can't see.
Finally replaced oil sending unit today and was actually surprised it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.Was gonna try to replace without removing intake but just could not get to it from the back,it is very tight back there. Thanks to the forum i was able to find some really good informative post about the intake removal, including pics and step by step process that made the job a lot easier.Just want to say thanks for all of you that helped along the way.Thank You,Karey
I'm with ya. I couldn't get the sender out without removing the manifold. Tried for hours.
It was WAY easier to just remove the manifold. 1/2 hr.
Whoda' thunk?
BTW - apparently the manifold torque and gaskets are fairly forgiving. When I went to pull the manifold - the 4 middle bolts were only finger tight.
