Default Poll: Heated Seat Button Location

I'm ordering the dual heated seat kit tomorrow. I've read quite a few posts about the control button location and I'm wondering where the folks with Active Handling prefer. Obiously the top of the center console is not an option for me.

Thanks

I removed the ash tray, then formed a piece of card board (then used it as a template to cut a piece of lexan) to fit the area. The space already holes it to run the control connections. I then spray painted the back side of the lexan flat black.

I have seen one on CF forum where the switches were mounted to the right of the traction control. They looked factory. The one above looks like an add on....no offense intended just opinion.

For a hidden install, the ash tray is a good choice. Out of the way yet accessible.

But, if the switches are attractive enough, you have serious options on the center console.

It is really just your call. If you want quick access, and the switch-gear is nice enough, go on the console. If you want stealth, go with the ash tray.

Keep us posted.

There is a thread about this. Someone posted a picture with the switches next to the traction control button. Looked like it came from factory.

I'm happy with mine. Out of sight, and a fantastic mod.

That's where I would put them if I didn't have the Active Handling **** in that location.

The Z with the switches on the side of the consol looks factory also.

I put mine in the ash tray door just like "steve8" displayed in an above post with photo. They are all good locations. I didn't want to have my switches bumped on accidently or seen in my interior by anyone.

IMO: its user choice and decision. There is no bad location if you like it. BTW: Took my vert out for a "top down" winter ride today with seats heating my rear and enjoyed every minute out there in 37 degree day... You're going to love the heated seats!!!! I do.

Its not easy if you have the AH button:

For that reason I went for the ashtray but I fitted mine in 2004 when there weren't too many ideas around. This is Mk2

Just installed the same thing in mine, with the active handling-and my husband put them on the active handling panel... I'll post pictures tomorrow, as I'm at work right now. Cut the PC board a little less than in DeeGee's above pic, and put the buttons down a little lower on the AH panel. I like the location. If you look at the PC board, the area you cut doesn't have any active traces going to it (as in, the traces you cut are not attached to anything needing electrical current) so nothing is going to be affected by cutting the board. (I work in quality at a place that assembles PC boards, connectors, cables, etc. so I see and deal with them on a daily basis.)

I also like the location of redshift's yellow car. That location was my second choice. Good luck with your decision! Seat heaters are AWESOME!

I would like to see your photos when you have a moment. I thought that there was not enough room for the traction control, active handling and dual heated seat buttons.

I put mine in the panel with the airbag light - my panel back looks just like DeeGee's first pic. Looks stock there and is right where you would expect it to be. You will love it when you get it installed. A requirement if you own a vert IMHO.

I also like the idea of putting the buttons on the ashtray door, but my wife uses the ashtray for a cash stash. She is of German heritage and there is no changing her mind.

For those that have installed them on the sides on the console like Redshift, any install issues?

Ok, so I thought I would post them when I got home. turns out, hubby didn't take pics like I thought he did. But, we have to take the console back apart this weekend anyway to fix something for the radio, so we can get pics this weekend. Sorry.

I put them in my wife's '01. She uses the heated seats all the time. She loves them on cool morning or evening.
