Is the valve spring failure specific to all C5's or just C5 Z06's? Seems that I have seen the breakage in many 02 Z's on here. I am asking because I have an 03 Z with little over 20k on it that has stockers as far as I know. I might replace for peace of mind, but I see upgraded springs break on here as well. Thanks for any insight...

You should be fine unless you have hi boost in the car, or ripping it over or to high red line for long periods of time...

Well that's what I always thought because I drive my cars very easy. I am a cruiser more than a racer. I have seen though where people's cars break at idle in driveway. I just think the C5 Z06 can't be driven hardcore all the time with stock components, and not break.
Hmmm, I haven't had problems with my vert yet. I drive the crap out of it and have even banged it against the rev limiter for almost a minute before. I have over 50k on the odo too.
Springs are cheap though, might as well replace them with a set of Comp Cams or something. Don't go too much higher on pressure unless you have an aftermarket cam that requires it.
From what I have read on this forum the spring problem is on Z06s from 2002 to early 2003, with the exception of early 2002 Z06s. My 2002 was sold in Oct. of 2001 so I have decided to not change the springs. I do not believe the non Z06 Corvettes had this problem.
It has absolutely NOTHING to do with how you drive your car. There were a batch of B.S crap springs manufactured for GM between 2001 and 2003.
6% of all the LS6's got em'
You may deal with it, you may not. If you want to read rants and unbelievable stories involving these P.O.S. springs, go to the Z06 forum and do a search.
It is a very real problem. Whether or not YOU will be affected is another story entirely.
Good luck. Don't void your warranty. It just makes matters worse.
