On Sept 3, I was involved in an accident in my 00 vert. Someone backed out into traffic in front of me, and I was unable to avoid a collision (the other driver was cited).

Anyway, my dilema is that the car is still sitting waiting on parts to repair it. The problem parts are the driver's side door and rocker panel. The door I can find used but the rocker panel is another story.

After having 3 delivery dates come and go, I called a friend at the dealership the parts were ordered from. He checked with GM and found out that even though there is a high priority status for this part, GM has no anticipated production date. I have exhausted every option I can think of and am now appealing to memebers of this forum for help.

Does anyone out there have any ideas where I could procure a C5 driver's side rocker panel, # 10444701? Price is not an object, as the insurance company will cover the cost. I have also started a dialogue with the adjuster about totalling the car.

The uncertainty this whole thing is driving me nuts. I have waited for over 30 years to finally realize my dream of owning a Corvette. After just over 9 months of ownership, my baby was sitting wrecked.

Wow, that's certainly odd.

You may try the parts for sale section and ask there as well.

 

From what I understand GM is not producing the rocker panels anymore. Have a talk with your insurance agent and see if they will cover the cost of some aftermarket rocker panels for the car - you will have to do both sides, but there are some fine looking rocker panels available. You can check with forum members Patches or Evil-Twin on where they got their panels from.

As for the door panel, if you can't find one anywhere else, check with the used parts vendor here on the forum.
