Yeah except it's not the kids or young punks who are turning them into civics. It's people who have never been car guys and vette people who are doing it, who happen to have a vette.

This has been going on since people started modding cars. Look at some C2 and C3's over the years and what's been done to them.

IMO the Calloway's look like cheap aftermarket stickon stuff. Yeah they may run down the road like a rocket, but it's an ugly rocket.

It's not kids doing it. It's older guys who have no taste and typically dress like this:

I also take notice of the folks who put blowers and super chargers, and all that other HP stuff on, and then track them for 20 K miles.

Then take it all back off and sell the car as 20K pampered miles.

You know who you are!

That's what I prefer for my mods.... not everyone is like that though.
Its there car and I guess they can do what "they" like to it.
When they go to sell it they will have to find someone that likes there taste in mods...

I could not agree more Toque! The C5 is as pure a design as I've seen on any vehicle, and like you, I've kept my mods very subtle.
There are cars that just define bad taste, but as others have said, "It's your car, so whatever makes you happy" It truly pains me though when
I see a C5 that is just so far over the top, it's hard to believe someone would think it enhances the overall look.

You have Z06 brakes, minus the red powdercoating.

Some mods that people do are not what I would do, but hey, I'm not paying for them nor am I paying for their car. So what they do is really no concern to me unless I were looking to buy the car. Now if they ask for my opinion, then they get it.

Damn..someone needs a BJ bad.

I guess the OP wouldn't like my car. Everything is a stick on. Even the 427 is a hologram and the coil overs are just painted on....

It's the normal evolution of cars as they age and become more affordable. Sometimes I see cars here and wonder. It's like the old line - I'd never want to be a member of a club that would have me as a member.

Dress like that do you?

I'm guessing I'm on to something with this theory here considering the responses/reactions thus far.

As many have said, its their car not yours. I'm sure if you would like to pay for everyones mods you could mod them as you see fit. It's not that I dont agree with SOME of the things on your list but your not driving the car and to them their car looks great and thats really all the matters. Semper Fi!!!!

I would only agree to a point. I too made the comment that it's their car and not yours, but I also made the point about having taste. And when that person takes the next step of posting pictures of it online, then they should be prepared for all of the comments. However it seems on this forum, more than others I hang out on, that critiquing somebody's Vette is not allowed. And when someone doesn't agree with the 30 Corvette logos in the interior of the car, the standard line of "it's their Vette, not yours" gets thrown out and a circle jerk of sorts ensues. Just an observation.

S/F.

So very very true. The main reason I don't belong to any Corvette Clubs-all of the members are 50 years older than me.

I agree with all except the Z06 brake ducts. I don't mind those on a coupe. People are just trying to cool their brakes down. It's more performance related. Now the stick on ducts, that's just crazy.
