Is there anyone on the forum using a wind screen in their convertible and if so maybe you could let me know how you like it.I am planning on taking a trip this early summer for 6 -7000 miles and I hardly ever have my top up and I was thinking that it might be a much better ride with a wind screen I will be grateful for any information. Also if you have any suggestions on how to make this trip as succesful as possible will also be appreciated.
I use it around town when my wife is with me. She says it helps cut down the wind around her head. I also notice a difference, just not enough to mess with for short hops. I have not tried on a long trip as the trunk is usally full and the top up. Hope this helps.

I use one when the weather is a litle chilly. I helps with the windows up to keep the heat in and the cold out.
It is a bit of a pain to use if the the trunk is full. If you do get one get a cover so it doesn't get all scratched up.
I went on a 5,200 mile trip this Summer and left it at home, due to the trunk full of luggage. It would have been nice to have when the Sun went down to keep the chill out.
Use it in my C-5 and it made a huge difference. Wife loves it - can hear the radio and carry on a normal conversation. If I am going out by myself and want to listen to the turbos and feel 40 years younger - go without it.
I also have heard positive things about the vettenet from several owners.
Long trip advice :
1. Ensure you know the best gas to get in each region you travel through.
2. Have a plan for what to do if you get a flat.
3. Try to get a list of quality vette friendly shops along your route so you know how far away you might be from good help if you have a serious mechanical problem.
4. Have a plan for cleaning/detailing your car multiple times (depending on how picky you are on cleanliness).
5. If possible be picky about where you stay each night so that you minimize the risk of vandalism/theft.
6. Digital SLR camera is a MUST!
Here's my 2 cents. The wind screen works to cut down the wind swirl that occurs around the BACK part of your head. That's why wives love it, since they typically have long hair that swirls around to their face. For men with short hair, not as much benefit. Also, if you live in an environment where you have 20 - 30 mph winds that come at an angle, no screen of any kind will help overcome that. I have the non adjustable model and raised it slightly with a couple of wine corks. It seems to work better being higher about an inch and a half.

I also raised mine with wine corks. Works well with keeping the air from hitting you in the back of the neck.
I really don't use it much on short trips....overall it's worth getting I think.
- Women with long hair as it does reduce (not eliminate) cockpit air, and
- Individuals that wear contact lens - it helps keep the wind from drying out the eyes.
I have one for my Vette - I used it once, and it is sitting in the garage collecting dust. Not that I have anything against it - the real reason (per the S/O) is that I want the wind to mess with my hair, and have my eyes dried out.
Thanks everyone for the heads up.Looks like I can save some $$$ I don't have a wife or S/O,I keep my hair short and always wear a hat.One question lingers. Do you have to remove the screen to put the top up ?
Yes, the screen has to be removed when putting up the top. It makes a difference in the noise and wind as noted by others. I enjoy mine in the cooler part of the year and on long road trips at interstate speeds. You don't feel as beat and still get all the benfits. Also at night cuts down glare from headlights behind you.

I see a hidden message in the post above for having a great road trip!
Buy a case of good wine to take along so you'll have plenty of wine corks!
Maybe even one case out and another case for the return trip. Might tour a few vineyards if you're in the right part of the country. Added benefit with enough wine you won't even notice the wind!
I bought one (plexaglass) and we love it. As stated above, it improves the flow of wind through the cockpit. Easy to put on and as easy to take off. Should rain set in you can pull over and have the net in the trunk, top up and on the road in seconds. I just replaced the glass in mine as the one I bought (used) was scratched heavily. Can't see driving our Vett without one. The $400 cost is large but I got mine for half the price and feel I got a great deal.
I have the plexiglas one that attaches to the seats, $120 on the auction side, works great and stays in place top up, down, and doesn't get in way of my roll bars!
