Whats crazy is that the C5 fuel filter is next to the exhaust pipes. My 98 started to have a gas smell when I stopped and parked. No fuel dripped....but later found while it was up on a lift I started it and saw fuel being sprayed on the hot exhuast pipes. It evaporated as fast as it was coming out. Somehow the fuel filter plastic quick connectors had a bad leak. I avoided my car going up in flames barely!
