My 2004 Convertible needs the drivers door replaced. The insurance company placed an order for a new GM door, but they are back-ordered until April {if I'm lucky}. The insurance company then found a nice used 2002 door. Massachusetts insurance laws requires a replacement part no older than the car. In my case, being the last year of the C5, only a 2004 door meets Ma. insurance replacement parts laws. I'm curious to know if it will affect the integrity of the car with regards to resale if I accept the 2002 door as a replacement? Appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

As long as the door is structurally sound I don't see why it would affect your resale any more than a new door would. That said, I am not an appraiser so I could be wrong on the value issue. I guess it comes down to how long are you willing to wait to fix your car - and see if GM will come through with a new door in the time frame they mention.
I was in a minor car accident in 2007 and the passenger door had to be replaced. But since my insurance policy did-not stipulate a 'New" door ( I could have made a "New Only" cluse in my policy, County Corvette did the repairs on my car, a 2003 50th Anniversary coupe they found a really nice 2002 door an it was in MY color. But the shop completely stripped the dorr inside and out saned and stripped everything from the door inside and out and afer sanding and repaining in Anniversary red.
County Corvette Inc. is such an excellant repair facility that a year afer the accident I was at a NCRS meets and one member asked about the car and how perfect it was. He asked if it history and I bet him $100.00 if he could detect and repairs done on the car? Well I've still got my $100.00 because when County Corvette Inc. was done it was so meticulous that there is no way to see or feel or find any damage, minor or major. only if you do a car fax it will say 'Acident involved' but I have taken photos and had them blown up to 8x10 glossy's so anyone looking at the car can see the door and right rear quater panal that were damaged. An accident is an accident is an accident. In my case it was minor (Didn't even break the door glass.)
