c6 shift **** torx screw question
I bought a used **** off the c6 forum but the person did not send the torx screw. I am putting it on a mgw shifter and c6 handle. Anyone know where I can get a new torx screw. will a hardware store have that size? C6 section hasnt been able to help.

If you have to have an oem TORX screw, contact Gene or Patrick at GMPARTSHOUSE. Maybe they can tell you the exact metric size.
If you can't find a metric, carefully drill/tap out the metric threads and use an SAE fine thread screw.

You'll very easily be able to buy a screw locally.
Just had a look at my C6 **** on the b+m shifter and the screw is an M5 x 16mm button head with a built in washer.
The screw size though could well be different for your mgw shifter.
You don't have to buy the screw with the washer attached, just buy a screw and washer separately if you have to. You def need a washer, be it attached or not, just to spread the load a bit where it goes through the ****.
You've already got the shifter fitted?

That could be attributed to the difference between Corvette enthusiasts and just Corvette owners.
The search and search this forum (in the red banner in C5 Tech) functions work well to find information from past threads. Nothing gets deleted.
In this case, the key words could come right from your title, "c6 shift **** torx screw". Then do your research.

I'm sorry but i looked a couple page in and none mentioned which size screw is used or where you could get a replacement. Maybe because this search button you speak of "in the red banner" has a minimum character amount so c6 would not even search. but thanks for your comment while others actually try to help.

Since you don't yet know the thread pitch, I recommend going easy when trying to test-fit different metric screws.

I'm not sure of the exact thread but I can tell you that it has to be countersunk and your best bet is to buy a few different sizes or take the parts with you to the hardware store. Basically what I'm saying is don't buy a socket head cap screw otherwise it definitely won't fit.

I know this is an old thread but I'm posting this for those like me that are having a hard time finding the correct information on the size and type of screw needed. The correct screw is a M5 x .8 x 16 Flat-Head Cap Screw (FHCS). It MUST be a flat-head because the shift **** has a 45° countersink that won't fit a bolt of any other type (shape) without breaking it. I picked this up at my local Ace Hardware for $.85. This is what the screw looks like:
