Most of the guys I know who have polished wheels keep them so shiney that they look like chrome, so why not just buy chrome and not have to worry about the upkeep?
The opportunity is not CCW or any other wheel. I use a high pressure air after washing and it makes a huge difference. Also get the right product and use a power instead of doing it manually. Still takes time but no where near 2.5 hours. I also pull mine every other week and clean the backs and everything inside. Work but sure looks great when done.
I put a set of Carbotech 1521 brake pads in when I did the flares and the new 500's. I've got a couple hundred miles on the car since then and so far so good. MUCH less dust than the HPS pads I was running and the Carbotech dust is not corrosive like most pads. They call them ceramic but even the Carbotech racing pads are listed as ceramic. I hated the AC Delco ceramics and pulled them after about a week. The Carbotech pads have none of the downside of the AC Delco's and the braking feels as good to me as the HPS pads.

Because you can take scratches out of Chrome.
For perfectionists, polished offers the best of both worlds.
Polished and Brushed are my favorite look for wheels.
Toque
It just depends on the car for me though. My Camaro looks great with polished wheels BUT I don't drive it every day and don't have to parallel park or park quick very often so the up keep/worry about curb rash isn't as bad.
On the Vette, I think polished looks great but it just depends on the wheel that you have. The higher end stuff looks great polished/brushed, such as the SP500's, Fiske or HRE's stuff..
But then there is the 360 forged/Iforged that looks bad *** in chrome too.
It really just depends on the wheel and the car that you choose.
No doubt aluminum can be sanded down, buffed/polished and cleared and be made to look great again and this is a benefit.
I just prefer the low maintenance and durability (of the elements/weather/cleaning solutions) of chrome I guess on a daily driver.
More durable? Chrome, Hit one curb and your wheel is toast.
Looks better to Most ? You mean all the ricer wanna bees that now come here to turn their classic american muscle into a street drifter?
Most indeed.. When I first came here this neighborhood was classic, ten years later and it has become a Ghetto.
A blank of Billet ( forged aluminum )cost 100 dollars before it is even machined..
Billet which is the strongest form of aluminum when it is forged ( wont bend ) is alot different than what you find for 60 dollars.
You need to know alittle about comparing Forged aluminum wheels with entry level wheels. Hit a pot hole with a cheap aluminum wheel and it will bend.
It's obvious you know your stuff. I going to benchmark your name and make sure I follow all of your advice.
sweet mother of GOD......may I jump in here with a triple hehe.....classic Bill...I love it...I live for it...was a bit depressed today until I just read this
WTF?...the only rumble you will here between knowledge/experience and lack of knowledge/experience would be like hearing the kind of rumble produced from overeating at TaccoBell...the first would be the expeller and the other would be the smelly fart
(did I just say fart?)
If you own a C6 Grand Sport, the problem with CCW is that they don't make a rear wheel that is the same size as what came on the car from the factory.
I was looking at the CCW website for the SP16a and the SP500 wheels.
Maybe I'm not looking at there website correctly, but I don't see standard OEM sized Grand Sport 19" x 12" rear wheels.
If you are buying replacement 19" diameter wheels for the rear of a Grand Sport, you either have to buy a narrower 11.5" wheel, or buy a much wider 13" wheel.
Anyone here buy a set of wheels for a C6 Grand Sport from CCW that fits the stock tires?
