Default Rough Spots on the back deck

While I was over at the detailers, we noticed these rough spots on the back deck of my 2002 coupe. He says it's a bad fiberglass job by GM. Does anybody know anything about this . It is most diffently under the paint.

The is a TSB on bubbling rear deck lids, search for it. Only fix is a new lid, some kind of insulation leached through the substrate and contaiminted the base material.

I've noticed this on my 2000 coupe, too. It's so subtle you can only see the textures if the car is clean and you are looking at it in a reflective light on the surface of the deck lid. I wasn't aware of the TSB until just reading this post - anyone know if it ever gets "worse" as in paint peeling off, or if it just stays the way it is now?

A few have tried to repair this only to have it return soon after.
If GM could have repaired this they would not have just replaced the deck lid in the field. GM's fix was a NEW decklid. Once whatever it is contaiminted the deck-you'd have to cut out the spot to really fix it, the problem starts on the backside.

Too bad its not a recall. I can't even imagine what it would cost for that. I have an 04 and it has it a little.

Thanks for the information. Maybe I won't bother trying to fix it, without replacing the whole lid.

Unfortunately most of us have it. If you look really hard, with a clean and polished car, you will see some irregularities. Sucks, but I guess we just have to deal with it.
