The PF46 or PF 46E will work just fine. The 46E is the newer version of that filter.

Wix is the way to go,,,they also make the NAPA Gold !! Wix is used by many race team,,,and is a top choice for commercial fleet operators!!The shop owner that built my sharks big block gave me the info on them. They build lots of race motors as well race themselves,,and know their stuff!! Good enough for me,,,Wix filters in ALL my vehicles!!

The Mobil 1 filter is identical to the K&N filter, except the Mobil 1 doesn't have the nut welded to the bottom.

I would never use an AC Delco filter, or any other filter that uses an "Ecore" design:

Thanks for all the replies!

In doing a little more research on the Wix/Napa...are they supposed to be identical? The specs appear to be a tad different. I think I'm getting too deep on this issue

Wix Specs:
Flow Rate: 9-11 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 21

Napa Gold:
Flow Rate : 7 - 9 gpm
19 Micron

So is a higher Micron rating better?

Thanks again!

Default Oil filter choice !

I used to just use the PH46, but they changed it to PH46E, which I believe I read is all about the packaging and not anything about the filter itself. I could be wrong. But I switched to a Mobil-1 filter with synthetic media inside it. They really don't cost any more tha a PH46E. And since I only change the oil and filter once a year, I use the Mobil-1filter.

But I believe, I read here about the different filters, any brand and they are all made by one company with a lot of different lables ? Wix seems to be a great filter. I haven't read anything negitive about them ?

I've used AC Delco, Wix, Mobil 1, Fram and I'm now using Purolator One. Honestly, I think they all do the job but the Purolator just makes me a little more confident, for some damned reason.

To answer the OP's question. I've had no problems with Wix or Mobil 1 filters. I stay away from Fram!

Because of CF and the threads of the past, I switched to using NAPA Gold oil filters for my C5. Easy to get and not too much more than anything else. Like $6 or so.

Only AC Delco for me. The factory uses them and warrants the drivetrain for 5yrs./ 100,000 miles. Great by me.

There are Many LS engines running over 300,000 miles running Mobil1 and Delco filters. You can pay more but there is No Better Filter than Delco.

What tests have been conducted to back this up?
