When I changed my oil filter it appeared that there was stains ( i guess that is what you would call it) on the front (near the timing cover) & right rear (pass. side) of the pan.

The valve cover don't appear to be leaking. At least, I don't see any evidence of it. Why would I need to canhge the valve cover gaskets? Did I miss something?

Thanks, Gregg
if the valve covers dont look like the leak then its ok. no need to change them

is there any way to tell if the OPS is leaking (slow leak) & if I take it out, can I tell visually if it's bad. Hate to spend $75 buck for nothing.
Have the valley cover gasket to change out. Are there any special instructions for installing it. Have my knock sensors unplugged & they are dry, no oil or anything on them. Will post a pic later.

Thanks

Be sure to do the service bulletin on the knock sensor plugs before you button it back up.

Here's some good pictures of underneath the valley:

That's what I originally thought about doing but if it does have a slow leak & it gets worse, I'll have to pull the intake again. No big deal, just a pain to do it again. Here are some pics of the knock sensors/

I know click again I just fixed it. LOL sorry about that I had several URLs open.

Yes I'm trying to find the number of the bulletin. Basically it says to seal the rear plug as shown in my picture leaving a section open towards the rear. After discussion with Bill Curlee it was determined to just do them both and leave the section open as shown.

OK....I assume that let's any oil in the sensors flow out? When you put the caps back on, won't that spread the sealer out & close the gap?
Just thinking out loud.
Also, the pics in the original post (pics 1 & 3) has some oil that appears to be from the valley cover. At least to me anyway. Would that come from the valley gasket or where?
Thanks,
Gregg

There is a service bulletin out to seal it, because they lift up and allow moisture in which cause false MIL and DTCs. It's only sealed 3/4 to allow for pressure relief.

I'll go ahead & seal it, won't hurt. It can always be removed if needed.
Thanks

You might also want to replace or relocate your oil pressure sensor before you reinstall the intake.
