Default Blinker problem

Has anyone experienced an intermittent problem with the blinker system on C 5s?. The turn signal will start to blink and then stop. Five minutes later it will work again. Then it won't work at all. Any suggestions?

My '01 has the same problem. Someone will soon reply as to how to fix the problem, but in the meantime, switch on the emergency flashers for a second or two. Then try the turn indicator.

This is not the first time for this question, search the forum for more replies. But, the short answer is the signals go thru the hazard flasher, which is a real time consuming PITA. Cheap, simple, effective solution is a digital flasher that plugs into the circuit, about $49 and a 1/2 hour of your time to plug it in. There is a vendor that sells on the Forum that offers this. I can't recall their name, but a search should bring them up. It worked for me, 4 years in my car now.

This has happened only once to me in my C5 Z06. I switched on the hazard flashers for a few seconds. After I turned them off the turn signals worked just fine.

I was going to suggest changing or at least topping off the blinker fluid but it sounds like there is now a better alternative.

I posted a thread about the signal problem about a month ago....the fix was a $57 part that takes 30-40 minutes to install...

Below is a link to the part you need..

I fixed this problem on our '02 for $10.00 and 45 min. labor Total.

All you need is the EL12 Electronic Flasher from Autozone for $10.00.

Thanks to "lionelhutz" for this excellent fix.

When the lamp filaments go bad, sometimes the filament will break and hang there, just barely touching the post it came off therefore allowing it to work and not work depending on vibration. The lamps don't last forever.

Here was my problem. Over time the stupid connector pins got loose or something and started arcing with the bulb. I had to change the plug out.

Right now I have a very similar problem.... my turn signals work off and on. When they don't work I press the emergency flasher button on and off and my turn signals work again. BUT.... I have no emergency lights ! RUH-ROH !!

Easy fix !

Get yourself some Blinker Fluid. It worked for my blinker issue. This is the good synthetic stuff too !

Are you blinkers sluggish? Do they make an annoying ticking noise? Do they not flash fast enough? Here's your solution. Little do people know, factory quality blinker fluid should be changed every 150,000 blinks. Our blinker fluid lasts ten times that. KaleCoAuto high quality synthetic blinker fluid meets the highest DOT standards while not being in the least bit DOT legal! KaleCoAuto blinker fluid provides you with thousands of hours of reliable blinking without the wear and tear on the flash-synchro's that the other blinker fluids cause. KaleCoAuto blinker fluid will not lose its viscosity even in the most extreme situations. Why buy that old dino-blinker fluid, when you can get our unique patented synthetic formula? Satisfaction guaranteed!! For use in any car.
You can get it here...

You can also just replace the hazard light switch. It is a PITA to replace, but that is the problem. I replaced mine when I added the HUD. Its been 5 years now and no problem since.
