Default Overflow tank?

I just noticed that the water in my overflow tank bubbles when at idle...there is no overheating or anything. Is this normal?

If you have high mileage, certain coolant parts are usually ready to go. I just replaced my water pump, all hoses, coolant tank(leak at neck),coolant, etc.Check for leaks at the hoses, hard hoses, leaks at the pump, and at the coolant tank ,radiator connectors.

It's pretty simple. Your system is not sealing somewhere. That is why you are seeing the bubbles in your tank.

Your system is pressurized and sealed, if not air gets into the system and does not allow it to work correctly.

Get a pressure test done on your system and figure out what's up.

I not some dumb kid...I just wanted input maybe from someone who might have encountered
this before...no need for bashing....basically I am concerned that I might have a head gasket problem. I have already rented a test kit for this...if it proves ok...I will have a pressure test done.

-I doubt it's the head gasket, as you would have probably got a P0300 misfire code.

-An emission snifer test would tell you if it's the head gasket.

-You're asking questions that a novice would ask, especially when you stated that your coolant bubbled when the cap was off. So I figured I would direct you to a place that would explain what was happening.

Simply stated your system is not pressurizing and thus the fluid is not moving correctly causing your fluid to boil.

The only other problem that might be occuring is that someone changed the anti-freeze and did not properly burp the system.

If I were bashing you, I would not be trying to help you out.

Maybe slightly bad water pump gasket. I can't see how a head gasket fails on these cars at such low miles. Its not like boost is being pushed through. Maybe if a bad overheat occurred, but I doubt that ever happened on a stock car.

Plus the car is running fine otherwise, with the occassional dip in idle when coming to a stop. But it also has a vararam and a tune on it, so that could be the culprit for that.

The first thing I would do is to do a carbon gas test. You can buy a kit for about $30 or $40 bucks and it has a vial that sets on the fill tank opening and you pour this yellow fluid in it and if it's carbon gas it will turn blue in a heart beat. I found a cracked block like this in a 383 Stroker that had only about 2000 miles on it. If the bubbles are compression this is the way to tell. Most of the time if you have a leak in your cooling system it doesn't suck in air.
