Im thinking about putting "Hoops" on my convertible C5 and am looking for some imput of which ones to put on. Corvetteguys.com has a Polished Stainless Convertible Dress Up Hoops (97-04 C5) that just attach directly to the car and then theres westcoastcorvette that has Corvette Seat Back Hoop Set : 97-04 C5, Z06 that attaches behind the seat under the carpet. which one do you think is a better product? its purely for asthetics and has no real function but i like the look.
I have the chrome hoops attached under the carpet.Came with the car I'm glad the previous owner installed them I might not have but I do really like mine. I haven't seen the other you mention so you you only get half a answer sorry

Chrome seat hoops were one of the first mods I performed back in early 2005 on my 2004 vert. You are correct in that these are purely cosmetic and do not provide any roll-over protection.
I shopped around and chose the hoops from WCC because they were larger in diameter and really filled in the area well behind the seat and I have received many compliments over the years.
Note - If you want leather covered seat hoops, you will need to go with a smaller diameter hoop than the ones I have because the roof latch will not be able to close.
I used the supplied epoxy as well as self-tapping screws. If you mount them with screws, be very careful as the gas tanks and carbon cannister sit behind the wall and you can puncture them. I would suggest working with a good Corvette-friendly mechanic or mod shop.
Lastly, be careful when cutting the carpet. In fact I recommend you spend the extra $50-$75 bucks and have a pro cut the carpet around the hoops. I installed custom rubber seals to cover up my carpet cuts for a cleaner look. Good luck!

Mine are the same as MSG C5 and agree with everything he says except for the carpet get some bezels of some sort and take your time. Don't go with those ones
To each his own, however those are not for me. I don't think I've ever seen a Corvette with that particular style. I would not even really consider those seat hoops as they appear to be fake stick on wanna-be partial hoop tops.
One of the reasons I added my seat hoops is that I like how they fill in the space between the back of the seat and the deck lid. They are not functional roll-over protection, however at least they are real.

I have the same set. The carpet is a b***h to cut accurately around the hoops. I covered my not too perfect cutting job by going to Lowes and buying 4 chrome (plastic) flange covers to fit around the hoops and hide the carpet cuts. These are the kind you might use for a pipe going through a bathroom wall or floor. Works well for me and looks like they came with the hoops!

is there an issue with seat space since youve applied the hoops? im not a small guy and i presently have the seat back as far as it can go.
Not at all. I'm 6'2" and I don't even have my driver's seat all the way back. That is one of the things I really enjoy about the C5 design. Even with the convertible top up, I have plenty of head room and leg room. The hoops have never come into play, however you do need to adjust the window protection fabric around the hoops once you raise the top.

The ones you linked from corvetteguys.com are not hoops, they're appliques and they will look like "stick-ons". The others (I got mine from RK Sport I believe) are minimally functional because I epoxied them in instead of bolting but look much nicer.
There is no problem with clearance or loss of legroom or headroom with hoops. The only thing you lose is the ability to use a vettenett (air screen) if you wanted to later.
I'll also agree with several others. If you are not handy with a sharp blade and very maticulus (sp), get a pro to cut the carpet. You have no idea how bad you can make it look until you try.
