Default Weight and Weight Distribution Question

If you had a choice between adding 110 pounds to the front of your car or adding 150 pounds to your car, but putting 85 pounds up front and 65 in the trunk which would you choose?

In other words adding less weight but having it all up front or adding more weight but having it more evenly distributed between front and rear.

This question seems to be along the lines of:

Would you rather wear a beanie cap for the rest of your life or poke yourself in the eye, just once?

That is an interesting question....

I'll vote for 110 up front as it is less weight in total. And considering everything, it is only 25 lbs more on the front than the other option. I almost think of it as just adding 25 lbs to the front without the 65 to the rear.

Sounds like you are you trying to decide between a supercharger or turbos?

Cornering handling is a priority over straight line speed.
The argument is over adding the weight of an LQ-9 stroker motor, and whether or not to add a light weight Deka battery and leave it up front, or go with a regular battery but to relocate it to the trunk.

I think it would be better to put the battery in back for better weight distribution and to aid in traction.

I'm no expert but I agree. I'd have thought more weight over the drive wheels (rear) would help

For handling purposes, equal weight distribution - as close as you can get - is best. Have the shop that is building the motor corner weight the car. Put it on 4 independent scales measuring weight at each corner with you or an appropriate amount of weight in the drivers seat. Relocate battery - light or heavy as needed - in lightest corner which is probably going to be the right rear.

Not an engineer but I would agree. The driver controls the weight distribution once moving by either braking and transferring weight to the front or giving it gas and transferring weight to the rear. Unless you are preparing for a single type of driving I feel keeping an equal weight distribution is best. By the end of this I am sure I will have allot more knowledge.
