Completely understandable
PsychokillerZ06
I'm guessing that he drove and enjoyed his Z06 so much in HAWAII, that he never even cracked open a owners manual, car magazine, computer, or anything else in the world that would say it has an LS6.
That is completely understandable, if I lived in Hawaii , I would have to get a second job delivering pizzas or something just so I could drive my Vette in the beautiful weather, and still afford gas, it has to be ridiculous there.........I am so jealous.
2002 and newer all had LS6 blocks, not the LS1 block.
the LS1 block was reserved for the Camero.
small differences in the LS1 and LS6 blocks. But important differences, mostly in the oil galleys and coolant passages.
f-body guys call them LS1s
with the above statement as being correct, but lets not confuse the OP. Even though the 2002 and newer C5's (Non Z06)used the same block as the Z06 (aka LS6 block). It was still an LS1 engine, due to the other components on the engine, eg: heads, camshaft, and other things I can't remember at the moment which were still from the LS1 design. The horsepower levels were also different ie: LS1 = 345 or 350HP versus LS6(Z06) = 385 or 405HP depending on model year. So in other words, 2002 and newer non-Z06's had an LS6 block but the engine was still called an LS1.
