I currently have a 2003 convertible with Kumho tires and stock rims. They are about worn out and I am planning to buy replacements.
The Kumho's are quite hard and provide a pretty harsh ride even in "touring mode" set for the suspension. I don't drive the car aggressively and I am interested in the softest ride I can get. A friend of mine just put Michelin's on his 2003 and the ride is much smoother than my Kumhos.
The question is, what do you recommend as a tire brand/model for a softer ride other than the Michlens. They are pretty expensive and I am trying to get the softest ride for the best price. Again, I don't need great handling since I don't drive the car aggressively. Mileage is a consideration, but not at the expense of the ride quality.
I am only looking at regular (non run flat) tires.
Thanks

Michelins are good, so are Hankooks.
I put a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position's on mine 15 months ago(8,000mi). Very pleased with them, very smooth and quite on the highway which is what I was looking for as well as mileage. They have a 400AA-A UTQG(wear rating)which is the highest I seen on Tire Rack's spec page for C5 stock sizes. They came out with 11/32's, still got 9/32's+. I would buy another set if I had to do over again.

I have also heard very good things about the General Exclaim UHP tires. They are not often mentioned in the same breath as "the big boys" but people who have them rave about them. They will probably be MY next set of tires.

I had Kumho's. Replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus ZP's . Michelin's are much better ride, traction, road noise everything.

Immediately road noise went away and car rode much smoother with better grip. They may cost more but come with a 45,000 mile tread warranty so that should count for something.
Paid $804 delivered from Discount Tire Direct then got a $70 rebate.
I am very pleased with my decision.
Just put a set of Hankooks on mine today after much research. Couldn't find anyone that had anything bad to say about them. Of course, they are a summer tire. Would have went with the Michelin All Season if I was further north.

ExploreMichelins are not as expensive as you think. Price around and check the online suppliers. You'll spend at least 600 to 800 for lesser brands. Michelins will run 900 to 1000. You'll never feel the extra deuce in a few hundred miles.

Me too agree... Had Goodyears 295-35-18" on back and didn't hook at all compared to the michelins... 2001 C-5 mm6Originally Posted by UM Rebel

If price isn't an issue, I would go with the Michelin PS2's.
I just changed my old Goodyear run flats to Hancooks. The differance in the ride and handling is unbleaveable. Also bought a small tire repair kit with compressor at wally world and have AAA.
I need a new set on my wife's 99. Sounds like Michelin PS2's are most recomended. Is it worth waiting for Carlisle to purchase and install tires? Any advantage? I am concerned about the pressure monitors working after the swap and should I change out batteries before purchasing new tires. Any thoughts?
I replaced my original 2004 Z06 tires last year with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's. Great performance and a great bargain! I purchased mine at America's Tire Company. The front tires are currently $174 each and the rear tires are $242 each.

Bridgestone is also offering a $70 rebate when you purchase four tires.
