Default Cray Scorpion Wheels

I am considering the purchase of a set of the Cray Scorpion wheels in CHROME. I have not had an opportunity to see a set in person so wondering about the finish. All chrome is not created equal! If anyone has a set in CHROME I would appreciate your opinion of the fit and finish of the wheels. I am reluctant to lay down $1600 for wheels I have only looked at photos of of. In fact most of the vendor posted Scorpion wheels I see don't really look like a high gloss chrome finish. I have also looked at LG wheels of the same design which have a pretty nice finish but it does not seem like there are nearly as many of those out there so less feedback which leads me to look more closely at the Cray wheels.
Any opinion from an owner would be appreciated.
Mike

I am looking at getting some Cray Mantra wheels, I too would love to see pics and hear of experiences with quality, good question.

I want me some 18/19 or 19/20 Crays for show, obviously they would be bad for racing

I saw a set of 19/20 Scorpions on fleabay but they were used and had a lot of pitting, I have no idea how old they were.

I just fitted mine - 18s and 19s. Dennis at Double D Mods shipped them for me.

I love the look and my initial impression of the quality is excellent. No troubles at all with fit.

For pure aesthetics I may get some spacers for the rears. I also wish I'd stuck with the original profiles of the tires.

I have mine for three years, excellent quality chrome and very easy to maintain. My only complaint is that the drums are not as finished as other higher end wheels. If you have lower end rotors with rusted hats you will definitely want to fix them I went with chrome hat covers from West Coast Corvettes.

Those sure look good on your cars.
DeeGee, when you say original profile do you mean you went with other than 17/18 and wish you had not or are you referring to offset.
japC5, My car is also white. If you have any other photos of yours closer up I would appreciate seeing them. It would give me a lot better idea of how they would look on my car.
Thanks a lot guys.
Mike

ps. Is the deep dish less on the fronts than back? I notice some wheels are deeper dish in the rear than the front BUT some are not.

On mine, the lip on the front is about half that of the rear.

I have had them for 3 years now and think they look great. I went with stock tire sizes and the fit was perfect. Very easy to care for.

No I'm very happy with the 18/19s. I'd have gone with different profile tires and spacers on the rear

I bought my used from another forum member. Don't know how old they are but I've had them a year and they look great. My car is a garage queen and rarely sees rain.

What's the weight on the Cray wheels? I looked at a coupe this weekend and it had the Z06 sized Mantas. The finish on the wheels are very nice from what I saw. Im thinking about going up to 18/19s instead if I buy the car.

I don't own a set of the Crays, but I have seen a few on cars at local shows and have talked with the owners. They all seem pleased with the quality of the wheels and have not had any problems with the fitment or the chrome.
