I've always owned some sort of GM vehicle. My first car was a '57 Chevy. I went throught a Corvair phase, and have owned Buicks and Pontiacs. Recently, I've come to appreciate the engineering and design involved with Saab 9000's. I don't think there was a better designed family sedan than those hatchbacks. My last one, with only software modification, larger downpipe, and larger injectors, developed 315 hp on the dyno. I lost that to an engine fire, and decided that I'd get by with just my Chevy pick-up, which I've endured as a daily driver for the past 5 years. Well, I broke down last week and picked up a high-mileage (90k), salvaged '03 Z06, electron blue with black & red seats. I'm in Massachusetts and it came from North Carolina. It was hit very light in the rear. The impact was on the passenger side, extreme corner of the rear bumper. The impact bent the rectangular beam that runs perpendicular to the two frame rails. The bend was only slight, not enough to deform the end of the beam, and certainly not enough to do any damage to the frame rail. The right muffler seemed to take most of the impact. There's a dent in both the back part of the muffler and the front, from coming into contact with the passenger side rear wheel. The impact from the muffler to the wheel did no damage to the wheel, but it somehow must have effected the toe rod. I've straightened the beam and have adjusted the toe rod and it seems to drive fine. I'll bring it to a alignment shop and have it thoroughly checked out before I start hanging parts on it - which I've already secured from a salvage yard in Cleveland - Pick a Part. I can't say enough good things about the secure way they shipped the parts (rear bumper and 1/4 panel/fender) and how fast they got them to me. Anyway, I also can't begin to describe the joy I get hearing the exhaust rumble when I start her up. It's my new 'daily driver' and I'll surely get another 5-10 years now, out of my Silverado.
I'm not sure if I have sufficient privileges to post them in this thread, or at least it doesn't seem possible because at the bottom of the message board it says "You may not post attachments" under "Posting Rules".
