The slave cylinder replacement last year.

Year before, the timing belt on a PT Cruiser.

Every spring I try to do one scary project just to keep the juices flowing.

Gotta give credit to good 'ol Dad when comes to this topic. Like Spicolli on Fast Times said, "my Dad has an awesome set of tools - I can fix this." Dad had every tool imaginable when growing up so my brother and were rebuilding lawn mower engines at age of 9 and rebuilding our own motorcycle engines by 12. Thanks to Dad and his willingness to let us use his tools I was buildin hi-perf engines like it was as simple as playin with legos. Whether it's rebuilding a carburetor or asking a girl out on a date it comes down to confidence but also doing your homework and applying some care and patience.

I've always wanted to install a supercharger but due to lack of knowledge and ******** size I just can't.

I'd love to learn how along with other repairs and replacements. Maybe one day far away in retirement I'll volunteer at a auto shop just for the fun of it to learn.

I have done some basic stuff like exhaust, air intake, stereo, verticle doors but that's about it.

Well....

I am mechanical inclined. I have been working on multi million dollar Semiconductor manufacturing equipment for 15 years now. Its more mechanically complex than my car by a LONG shot ! I am a little shy around my car though. Sometimes I'm not sure why... As with anything I research the HELL out of it before starting any task I have not done before. I don't just jump into anything blind.

Before I got my Z06 I had no idea how to even change my oil...

- I installed C5 fog lights in my Z06 (before the pre made kits were available). I had to research all the wiring and where everything connected to. It turned out perfect !

- I installed Ceramic pads, and new Bear rotors. A lot easier than I though. Turned out great !

- I drained/filled my coolant. Turned out great !

- I installed my LG GT2 coil overs myself. Turned out great !

- I installed SS brake lines, speed bleeders, and bled my brake system from the reservoir to all 4 calipers. Turned out great !

- I figured out why my CD player was having issues reading CD's. I tore the entire head unit apart and cleaned the laser. Saved me a ton fixing it myself. Turned out great !

- I replaced my Diff, and Tranny fluids myself. Turned out great !

- I replaced all the bulbs in the car with LED's. (Radio,HVAC, Doors, DIC, HUD, TC, Fog/trunk, Rear view mirror, footwells, trunk, glove box, underhood). It was a ton of work, and time consuming. My electronics background helped here a lot ! Turned out great though !

- I change my own oil/filter. Easy peasy...

The list goes on...

I enjoy taking on the challenge of learning something new about my car and saving some $$ doing it. If I had a lift and the correct tools for specific jobs I know I would get into more involved tasks.

And as I do at work... I often write procedures for the less experienced folks to learn from, and to remind me how to do the task next time I need to do it myself. Now you know why I write procedures on my web site....

Installing the complete Procharger SuperCharger system and downloading the correct injector specs into HP Tuners in order to fire it up and take it to get tuned

2nd is the Flip-Drive for the system lot of cutting of the alt bracket and trimming and fitting - but it has got me 701 respectable RWHP

Thanks,Matt

My web site is in my signature line.

I just changed the fluids... I did not swap my diff.
Maybe my wording in my original post was misleading. Sorry... I meant that I changed the fluids in my Diff, and Trans.

Default Water pump swap

I tried to swap a water pump last weekend. Along the way my socket wrench crapped out. I also broke the tip of an extension piece while taking the bolts out. I couldnt rotate the radiator drain plug because it was broken so I had to pull it out, got covered in coolant.

Got everything back in, and was torquing the bolts down, sheared off the bolt connecting the thermostat to the water pump. Gave up and called the dealer. First thing they said was the last shop that changed the coolant used the wrong fluid which deteriorated my water pump seals causing this whole mess in the first place. They sealed everything up, then checked for leaks. They called me up and said it was leaking everywhere, said the LS6 water pump I ordered would not fit, had to tear it down again and replace the water pump.

Sometimes fear is good... but in the end I got my car back.
