I'm interested in who has taken on a DIY that scared the heck out of you but it turned out okay. I've been on the fence over the last year about doing my own Z06 rear duct install. The thought of cutting into my C5 scares the heck out of me, even though I have a good template, good instructions and I know dozens of Forum members have successfully done this mod.
What about you. What were you dreading that you did and it turned out great?

Did a Clutch,flywheel,slave,etc.-the first time was kind of scary, the second time 2 weeks later, not so much (fubared the pilot bearing on the first go-round)
Doing an X pipe tomorrow, piece of cake(probably),as long as I don't cut the pipes too short(I'm going to measure 3 times before I put the sawzall to it...)

Although quite simple to do, as I have done many of them now, it is amazing what has to come off/out and how many parts you have laying around just to do a gauge-ring addition.
Anytime I build a motor for one of my cars, I get scared. Mainly because if it spins a bearing or something, all that time, moeny, effort and labor is all wasted.
It took me 2 years to work up the nerve to cut holes in my car for the rear brake ducts. Finally went over to a friends house that had done it and we put those suckers on!
I'm still scared to wet-sand out acid rain etching on black.
I talked with a friend of mine that owns a clean up shop about that last week. You'll never guess what he told me to use.......wheel acid!!
I thought he was kidding til I watched him to it. he sprayed wheel acid on the panel, wiped it off, then cut it with Meguiars diamond cut, then followed that up with a swirl remover on a foam pad. It took them out.....but wheel acid....wow
Full interior insulation and double din stereo installation.
I'm not good with details, especially later in a project. The key is TAKE YOUR TIME and NEVER NEVER NEVER say "I think that looks okay".
Funny.....I did the HUD retrofit with no problem but for whatever reason......doing the Double Din install frustrated the heck out of me and I still don't have it complete right...
