Default tool box paint

Laying on the floor working under my vette yesterday I had a good view of the lower part of my Craftsman roller tool chest. The bottom section bar and the bottom drawer have a few rust spots starting. Looks like something may may spilled or splattered on it in the past. Anyone ever try to touch up a Craftsman red/black tool storage unit? Been on line for the last half hour looking for touch up paint. Thanks

Yes I did contact Sears. Talked to someone in their Parts Direct department this morning. He could not find anything about tool box paint.

Take a sample to have it matched at the body shop supply house.

I could take a drawer with me for the black, not sure how to match the red that is on the cabinet.

Well it is about 15 years old but I still like to keep them looking nice. These spots got by me somehow. If I had not been on the floor under the vette I may not have noticed the spots. I just turned my head to the side and was looking right at the rust.

Found these, Might be helpful :

"I used Rustoleum's Painters Touch "Apple Red" on my dad's 40 year old Craftsman Tool Box. It matches the Mechanics Chest I bought a few years ago pretty close. "

Another guy wrote:

"I used Krylon Cherry Red to paint a small cabinet I picked up. Color match was pretty good. Check it on a test panel and see if you agree."

"I painted this with Rustoleum Industrial Enamel (spray bomb), I think it was called Safety Red. They also have black and yellow. It matches pretty close to my tool box and has held up well."

And last but not least:

" Safety red is probably as close to the color of Craftsman tool boxes you'll get with off the shelf paint."

It's a tool box...Paint a black stripe around the bottom and be done with it.

I was thinking of some decals or something. Just sand the rust off, prime it and put a decal on it of some sort

Repaint the entire box to match your car. add afew embems and car show 'dash plagues' for a touch of extra color.

Do you have a top cabinet with the flip up lid on it? If so, see if you can knock the retaining pins out of the hinges and then take the top to a local paint store where they could match the paint.

I do have a top cabinet. I will go out and check those pins out. Good idea.

Probably a lot more trouble that you want to go through....but why not just sand and prime to rust spots and paint the whole thing black?
