I've pulled the main fuel line at the firewall disconnect and jumped the fuel pump so that it runs when the key is on.
I've drained 1/4 tank and stopped wonder if this would cause a problem with fuel equalization between the tanks, possibly leaving one tank dry and burning out a fuel pump.
Is it safe to take the fuel down to 1/8 of a tank this way?
I need to get the old winter gas out and fresh gas in before a tune and driving is NOT an option.
It's been sitting in the car 6 months and I'm worried its degraded and will cause tuning issues.
6 month's is nothing-I fill up in November, start the car every few weeks through the winter and generally have 1/2 still by spring. Drive it over to the local gas station, top it off and DRIVE-been doing this many years.
I know it's lost some octane and it was only 91 to start with. I don't want to have issues when its on the dyno. Tunning it on old gas just seems like a bad idea to me.
Just take a gentle ride to burn off what's left and top off with fresh gas. The knock sensor will compensate but it wont have degraded much in just 6 months.
