Default 04 CE Plug Wires???

Folks - I'm at a loss here.
I went out to change plugs and wires when I noticed that my plug wires are all red. Did the Commemorative Edition come with red plug wires? Or did the previous owner do me a favor and put GM Performamce Parts wires on this car?
Also, the wires all have nice, intact looking metal shields around the boots. If I pull on these metal sheilds will I damage the boot, or is it molded this way?
Any info would sure be appreciated as I would hate to go out and spend $50.00 for new wires if not needed.
TIA.
Glen

Sounds like the GM Performance wires. The shields will pull off.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean the the 04 CE's had the GM PP wires from the factory? Or are the wires the same as all other 04's except they're red in color. And if they are the originals, are they as difficult to pull off the plugs as everyone else seems to think or say?
Thanks again for the responses.

The wires on my '03 are red and as far as I know, they are the original ones. Guess GM started putting them on the cars at some point.

Well, this begs the question, how does one know if the red wires on these cars are GM Performance Parts wires, or the "regular" wires with a red jacket? Are there any marking on the GM PP wires that indicate they are a high performance product? I can't see anything on the wires I have on the car already, but then again, mine are still all installed and not easy to see if there were any markings on them.
If someone had a photo (close up) of the GM PP wires that might help a bit.
TIA.

Just wondering...Why are you changing plugs? They're a 100,000 mile service item.

My '03 Z06 came with grey wires. I changed to the PP Reds when I changed plugs, but I must say there is no mechanical difference between stock and the PP red ones, both are suppressive metal core and low resistance. The red is a nice touch of color and goes with the Z06 beauty covers though.
