[Z06] CamZilla meets the virtual world.

I have been working with a 3D artist, chassis physics specialist and his specialized tire and chassis dynamics software to create as accurate a rendition f my car for "fun and testing' as possible.
Until now there really hasn't been a crazy enough track for rFactor to really showboat the car and the game.
Well, all that changed when this super long distance track was released.
Here is CamZilla's rFactor in-game debut, enjoy.
Oh yeah, the track is aptly named "Cannonball Run USA". The model is now out of beta test mode and will be getting proper brake meshes next. Then the C5 FRC and Coupe models will follow, then a public release for everyone to enjoy.

I am using Kangaloosh! Carfactory and Niels TReX! physics tools and tyre physics utils. Same tools he used to do the physics for the C6 Corvette mod for rFactor. I am doing stock 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Z16 shock variations etc.
Once the C5 Z is done I will be tackling the 99 and 00' FRC and then the Coupes of all years.
I probably spent a little too much time on my version of the car, but it was too much fun to pass up.
The biggest challenge has been the tyre physics - resisting the temptation to make them too sticky. Tyre choices will be stock GYF1 SC's, Kuhmo V710's and Hoosier R and A6's.
For the Coupes/FRC's there will be runflat GY's.
I am working on engine, transmission and exhaust upgrade paths as well. Still to get worked in are Tigershark body mods, and few other regular option hoods.
Another challenge was getting the real chassis geometry into the physics tools.
In the early days Pfadt, Katech and Pratt & Miller where kind enough to share important suspension, aero and powertrain dimensional/performance data with me.
I am rather satisfied with the results to date, but it still needs a bit more work.
An early test of the Katech engine file, Hoosier tyre model and Moton suspenion model. The car uses, with permission, Niels & Some1's C6 mod C6 Z06 as the base for the Katech ClubSport.
Early C5 Z06 chassis and suspension modeling. Wow, I have been workign on this mod since March 2009

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

The idea is to include stock versions of the C5 Coupe, FRC, Z06 and Convertible with 1997 through 2004 models of each. Then there will be select real-world C5 and C6 track day cars.
The stock C6's will be provided by a parallel install of the existing ground breaking C6 Corvette mod for rFactor.
Physics for the C5's and track days cars is being made using the same tools used to create the physics for the C6 Corvette mod.
If I can get the permision needed, I might even name the mod "The Corvette Forum Track Day" mod.
Also, what do you use as a controller? I have a G25 and I am trying to decide if I should get a playseat / G27 to enhance the experience.

On the "maybe" list are harness bar/rollcage options (with proper weight gain) and weight loss options - but I am a stickler for detail, so until the "stripped" interiors are modelled I will leave that option out.
Coupe and Vert models might have automatic options, if I can get rFactor to use an appropriate shift point.
Each car will have from a performance mod standpoint, stock motor, LS7 upgrade, tuned LS7 and Katech 500ci LSx engine options.
All the rear end and transmission combos possible on the C5 platform - so people can tinker with a monster motor, 4.15 rear and TR6060 transmission setup and see what happens.
The option to swap stock 17/18 wheel/Goodyear combos for 18's all round with Kuhmo's or Hoosiers.
The ability to swap the stock spring/shocks for Pfadt (or LG or DRM - whom ever gives me the most accurate data
) coil overs and adjustable sway bars and a T1 kit swap. The track day cars to be represented are probably going to be Short Throw, John Shiels, a Katech Club Sport, and a few others I dont recall off the top of my head.
The mod includes RealFeel support to take advantage of the better steering wheels, as well as support for the "Grinding Tranny" plugin.
This project orginally started out as "simply model my car" and somewhere along the way got a little out of hand

My current controller setup is a Thrustmaster T500RS wheel, ActLABS 6 speed shifter and Fanatec Clubsport 3 pedal kit. I use a PlaySeat version 1 that dates from 2006. I still have my G25 setup, and it is still a very capable rig.

reminds me of this little video I made a couple years ago.
