The headers that work well with the C5 are long tube headers. It is my understanding that in Cal. all long tube headers are illegal and the car will not pass emissions with them on. Make sure any bolt ons are CARB certified if you do not want hassles at emissions check times. Also, changing the exhaust system will not really give you more power. It will make the exhaust sound like you have more. The Z06 stock system flows very well.

There are many upgrades you can do... Its like going to Baskin Robbins and having to choose your flavor. I will list some of the ones I am really glad I did. Don't feel you need to do this all at once. I did mine over time. You did mention you weren't after significantly improved performance so I will leave performance stuff out:

1) Sound Deadening - If you want to quiet things down a bit so that it is easy to converse with your passenger or on a cell phone, sound deadening the entire car is great. Here's a detailed thread I did on this quite a while ago,

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...os-photos.html

2) Tunnel Plate - This stiffens the suspension a little but more importantly, cools things in the cabin because it blocks heat from the straight pipes under the car.

3) Double Din - Looking to have a wide screen with Audio/Video/Nav? This is your mod. You need to be aware this is not a simple drop in replacement, but a conversion and is a little bit of an undertaking.

4) HIDs - the stock low beems just didn't cut it for me. There are vendors on the forum that sell aftermarket HID lighting.

There is a ton of great information on this forum, and between here and LS1 tech you can find a DIY for just about anything.

Semper Fi!
No kidding so did I, I am still at Pendleton. I had the 89' Gt Red and gray two tone! I wouldn't doubt if we met, where did you work when you were there?

I am beating the system by having my car registered in NY, but I guess if I put the mods on the car and someone reports me I can still get nabbed for emissions. Thanks for the info.

1. Ya the cabin sound is bearable but I know what you mean when you are highway driving with someone.

2. Tunnel plate? Do you mean the one that covers the driveshaft? I will research.

3. I have an aftermarket set-up and was wanting to get a built in Screen vice a motorized screen. How about that damn BOSE box that you have to get...good lord!! I am running (2) 12" JLs but it is heavy as all heck so I am thinking of down grading to (1) 10" half the time I barely have the subs pushing 1/4 power.

4. I know what you mean about the lights, but I want to keep the flip ups, I will look into these kits I am sure there are some that maintain the flip ups. This is going to sound stupid but the flip ups were one reason I didn't go with the C6Z...I know I know stupid headlights was a deciding factor laugh it up hhahahahahaha

Responses:

2) Check out Elite Engineering (a forum vendor) for the tunnel plate,

http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/E...ent_Plate.html

3) The bose system uses outboard integrated amps in the door speakers. This makes adding aftermarket speakers difficult. Forum vendor c5 BearsFan can hook you up with double din.

4) The HID's I was referring to allow you to keep your pop ups. Yes... I love them also. Check out forum vendors JW@JWMotoring.com or radioflyer.

The Borla's are known to have some resonance issues that for some are a source of annoyance. It happens usually around 17000 rpm which on my MN6 is 70 mph. I don't mind.

I will definitely look at the tuning if I choose to go with the full system, really to be honest I am not looking to rip it up or track the car. I guess I am the junkie who likes to know that beneath his foot is a monster.

Does anyone know of a good tuning shop for Vette's in So Cal?
You are lucky that two of the best known vette builders/tuners whom are also sponsors of this forum are in socal; A&A corvette and RPM motors

I'd have issues too at 17000 RPM

Gentlemen,

I am working on getting the pictures...I had a few with me but I need my wife to get me some more. I am in the middle of Afghanistan on a deployment. Almost done though, then it is time to put the Borlas on and the MGW shifter. I broke down and bought both of them new, I have had the car for almost about a year and some change. I was just waiting on the GMPP coverage to run out. They wouldn't renew it, there was a company that would be they wanted to charge me $4000 for 36,000 miles of bumper to bumper. doesn't seem worth it with a $100 deductible.

Any have the MSD ignition coils? I am looking there for the next upgrade and possibly the antifreeze hose kit....my car has about 51K miles.

Anyone have complaints about Royal Purple products through out the car, engine, tranny, and rearend? I have it in the engine right now and have no complaints. Any suggestions?

Can't let warranty run out. GMPP just change their policy to allow extended one month before warranty expires. Ce Ya Bye is the man (Ken Fichtner @ Fichtner Chev) He has more on that if you advance search topic.
