As a member of the Evil Oil Empire, I can shed some light on the story. Other than octane, most gas blends a very similar. One refinery in Texas City blends gas for multiple companies. They may add a trace element to differeniate the gas, but it's basically the same.

Some gasoline retail companies buy gasoline from different refineries, and some is imported from refineries outside the U.S. The independent gas retailers buy it from just about anyone.

Gas refineries in the midwest do this stupid summer blend due to emission reasons (think you midget brain Al Bore).

What I'm getting at is that most blends of gas are the same. What IS DIFFERENT is the storage facility at the gas station. It's more significant to find water in the storage tank, than the blend of gas. Also, the percent of ethanol is uber important to watch. That's a whole nother thread to kick around.

"Ours contains Nitrogen!" Bah, it's in such trace amounts that it means nothing.

Most imported oil for the U.S. is from Nigeria and South America.

A Valero or Marathon being sans M.E. oil is not a big deal in that regard.

That's not an independent testing authority. Not recogonized. I wouldn't put much stock in their conclusions. Click on the history link.

Retailer centric. Does not explore production facilities or companies.

Pemex production is in a huge decline. Side note, the Mexican government derives over 90% of their funds from oil sales. Guess what happens when that oil play collapses.

Russia, no. Not yet.

Canada is the highest percentage, but let me throw you a curve ball. Nigerian crude is sweet, meaning it is the easiest to refine for gasoline. Canadian is heavy oil, and usually it's refined (more so) into other products. That's why I say Nigeria is a biggee.

Venezuela, heavy crude. Other South American countries contribute.

All to power up my Z06!!!
