I was merging onto the freeway in 3rd at full throttle from 60-90mph or so. I started accelerating with the weight shifted slightly to the right of the car since I was merging over to the left lane. As I accelerated, the rear end of the car started wobbling slightly left to right. I also noticed that this occurs to a lesser extent in a straight line during higher speed acceleration. The rear end seems to shift around a bit.
I originally thought it was losing traction since it feels a bit like the rear end getting loose, but this is occurring even when it's hot outside and I can get traction throughout 1st gear.
I have not had the car aligned since buying it. Could it be an alignment issue?
I also have the TCS/ABS light on my dash which I haven't had a free weekend recently to spend troubleshooting. Could this cause anything like I described?
Same problem with mine when I first got it. It would pull one way under acceleration and the other when you let off the gas. I had a bad upper rear A arm.
If you get the rear of the car off the ground and you can move one of the rear tires in and out that is more than likely your problem.
If it is the problem you have to replace the entire A arm. There is no way of replacing the bushing.
