I have seen one close to this in Corsicana, TX. sitting in a tire shop parking lot. Next to it was an old "1970 something" 2 door Ford LTD with the same treatment. I wanted to stop and look at it but I was pressed for time. To each their own.

Back in 1979 there were at least three of these 4 x 4 conversion Vettes running around the Space Coast area of Florida. Two of them had been peiced together form totaled wrecks as rather a joke on both Vettes and 4 x 4's. The third was actually converted from a Vette already converted into a Station Wagon....
The main thing was, it was the current body style with no collectable value at all...so nobody cared. It's possible this is one of those original ones.
Sidenote- One of my high school friends was so impressed with one when he saw it that he did the same thing to his 1969 Olds Cutlass.I never knew exactly what to say to him after that....I wonder what the Cutlass would be worth these days.
