There is no 'side pipe' setup possible on a C5. I don't get the point of this 'side exhaust behind the rear tire' look. What benifit will there be? It's just a 'look' thing, and no mufflers?

Side pipes, as in the C2 & C3 are pipes that run along the side of the car, terminating in front of the rear wheel. What the OP has here is a side exit exhaust. If this is for a race car, it makes some sense not having a turbulent air flow coming from beneath the car. For a street car, it'll look fairly cool from the side, but as mentioned, what's the rear going to look like without pipes? The jury's out 'til final pix are posted.

Wow it does not take much imagination to see that with this outlet in the front fender a set of side pipes could be fashioned to run down the side of the car. Are they better than the factory? Probably not but the cool factor would be awesome! My only concern would be the heat where it goes through the body. I have visions of the wicked wicth in the wizard of OZ.
A buddy in the San Angelo Texas car club has no pipes in the rear. He has them dumping right after the cat. Looks pretty cool too. I really like the exit behind the front tire. Guessing no cats?
lol i will post pix when done and i found the rings.. this guys all over forums an makes them in carbonfiber and even makes a backsplash.. just ordered them.. when its done i will post pix...thanks guys
I like the side rear exit, but I think I would still have mufflers in back, but get some that would exit out the side, instead of out the middle of the car. More of a conventional muffler, in one side and out the other.
that is really a cool mod - very racy looking. Perhaps not for everyone but especially those that have a competition look going. Some kind of diffuser in the center space would be a cool way to finish off the rear end. Congrats to the OP for some fresh thinking.
That's awesome. Cool to see that you followed though and got it done. And you did a great job! Like DsC5, I'd like to see a pic from the side as well. Congrats!
