Ok, im going to get flamed, I know. But I like the interior and don't see why it gets bagged on so much. The grab bar and double cowl design harken back to the old days and looks really good. I love that i have a center console (even if it is not deep) and a glove compartment. The black lights fo the gauges, very cool. The soft button switches for the doors, and I find the sport seats to be comfortable. Over all, I think the style is good on the interior, and i like it.
I agreee with everyone. One of the things I liked about my C5 was the interior. THEN I saw what you can do to the interior. Even if something is nice. If you can make it looked even better, why not?

That about sums it up. Higher quality materials would have been a good addition to the car. One has to wonder what difference in cost would have occurred if GM had used better stuff.
Try owning a couple of C4's, the earlier version and the later version interiors. THEN tell me how bad the C5 interior is, I'll laugh in your face! My C5 interior is absolutely incredible and gorgeous! I still have my 88 Torch Red C4 interior that took me a couple of years to work out the horrible ways they designed it. The KIA Sorento interiors they transplanted in the C6's are an abomination!
I guess I'm in the minority as well, because I think the interior is nice too. The layout is extremely functional, the dash and gauges are sharp, the "membrane" buttons are nice, and the DIC is innovative. It doesn't bother me if I have a truck radio or a Cavalier steering wheel. Could GM have used higher quality materials? Sure. But who knows how much that would have driven up the cost.
I like the interior just fine. Could they have made it better, sure but it comes at a cost. I think they hit a good balance between cost and quality as far as the interior goes, however it's clear that they put most of their engineering budget to performance and reliablity as the C5 is one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned.
I think the interior design is great. I just wish the seats had a better quality of leather. Oh yeah, the cupholder, would it have driven the price that much higher if they had given us one?
