Default Stinger Hood Owners Input Needed......

Trying to decide between the RK Sports Ram-Air Hood http://www.doubledmods.com/RK-SPORT-...-97-04_c32.htm and the Stinger Hood from Fiber Concepts, Warminster, PA. http://www.fiberpartsconcepts.com/Corvette.html
Putting aside style/looks (I give the Stinger an edge) and delivered price (about a $250 edge to RK), I'm looking for OTHER factors to weigh in the decision. For example, I found several threads commenting on the RK Hood (only downside seems to be inadequate clearance for chrome alternator covers--RK owners--anything else you'd comment on); but only one comment, from a non-owner, about the Stinger being "too heavy"--it's 45 lbs. which is fine by me.
So if you have or had a Stinger Hood, please chime in: what do you/don't you like? Any fit/finish issues? Other comments?
Thanks for your help!

Is the stinger scoop functional ?
is there an opening at the back to let air escape ?
Just curious, love the looks of them.

I would think a little Dremel work would open up the back to let hot air out at least when you park.
Anyone know what the stock hood weighs? Just don't see why 45 #s is a big deal, especially when it doesn't seem to be problematical to those who have it!

Great Looking hood---ACP stinger, right?
But when they don't price them on their website I get nervous!
$2000+ delivered? Outside of my budget, even if it only weighs 18 ounces

There already is a cutout in the back but you would have to make some alterations on the bottom side of the hood so the heat could escape. I just re-installed my hood liner and left it go at that.

I have the Stinger hood from Fiberconcepts. Can't do business with a better guy. Rob is the man.
I had the hood opened in the front to install the stock 67 grill work. The rear is open and You can modify the hood to extrac the heat. I closed in the rear as I liked the look.
weight. I don't think it weights 45 lbs but I never weighted it.
You will be extremely satisfied with the fit and finish. My body guy had it installed with in 30 mintes.
BUY IT!!!

Yes it's the ACP stinger, and yes it cost a lot of $$$$. I do like the fact that it's not on a lot of our cars, approximately $ 1800. THANKS, L8R ZFLASH

Great personal comments from an owner---Thanks!
Great idea on the front grill--I've seen them on fleabay occassionally.
Did you run it at all with front AND rear opened before you closed off the back? I would think that alone would have extracted heat as I believe the base of the windshield would tend to be a low pressure area when you're moving..............
They say 45# shipping weight, so I suppose the hood's closer to 43#. Like the guy above said, who cares if you're not racing it!

I think its just me but when I am looking at a hood, I am looking for functionality also. If the hood looks great but it has absolutely no function at all in helping extract heat out of the engine, I'd rather wait, save my pennies and buy a hood that looks good and also helps extract heat. That's just my personal thought.

In all fairness , the stock hood doesn't extract either .
The stinger looks better than stock . I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to modify .

Point well taken! Though in my mind some mods, like hoods and wheels for example, are often all or mostly about looks.
