Default Headers or cutouts?

I have a 99 C5 6 speed with a Vararam, air bridge, and B&B catback. I'm looking for a little more noise out the back and am trying to decide between long tubes with cats, or electric cutouts. After this, I'm done modding my car (at least power wise).

If I go with LT's I'll probably go with LG's. I like the idea of the extra power, torque, and exhaust notes it will make, but not looking forward to spending the $2K+ for the headers, install, and tune.

If I go with electric cutouts, it's about $400, I can control the amount of noise my car makes, and maybe gives just a little extra power (not expecting much at all). My neighbor is a welder and said he will weld it up for me free of charge.

I'm not looking for a street/track racer, I like to enjoy my car by simply driving and cruising with the targa top off.

I can't decide which way to go and am looking for some input from you guys that have any of the above mods.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't really care about any extra power, just go with the cutouts. Heck of a lot cheaper and they will get you the noise you want.

Cutouts loud when you want it and headers all the time, headers sound better though

I got the XSPower headers for $750 shipped. We did the install at a buddys house. $1,050 for headers and a tune.

Headers transformed my car into a beast. It sounds like a race car now and is loud enough without blowing your ears out like some of these ricers do. Not to mention the power increase which is awesome.

If you don't need to deal with being smog compliant...go with the headers! They sound awesome, you get more power, and while I had mine under normal driving, actually got another mile or two MPG!. I've since ditched the headers (too much heat from LEO's over 'em in CA) and actually just had my cutouts finished today. Invisible to beast-mode and back at the hit of a switch.

Where did you get the cutouts? I am also looking for a louder exhaust but don't want to mess with long tubes and smog/law. I currently have a Callaway Honker CAI and GHL bullet catback.

No offense but your post is worthless. The car in that Video has a H/C & FULL BOLT ons. You should read the OP again.

To op... If emissions aren't a problem, get some used LT's.
I got my LG Pros for 1k shipped. You won't regret getting dome LT's... They change your car. You'll love it.

How's about a set of 1 3/4" JBA Ceramic coated SHORTY Smog Legal headers and the cut outs?

I have a set of Shorty's for sale - with these and cutouts it would be sweet!
Check them out:

Anyone ever tried the JEGS's cutouts?

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performan...30833/10002/-1

Only $259 for the 3" pair, then have to add some flange pipes, and install.

I don't think I can use cutouts, since I have the MAGNAFLOW 00-04 CORVETTE C5/Z06 CATBACK W/ X-PIPE (MAGNAPACK MUFFLERS)

thoughts? No point putting them past the inline mufflers, and no room before them and the cats...

Yes there is room. However the mufflers that fa up may not do the cutouts justice. You could howeverremove the mufflers Dont buy Jegs. I heard bad things. They suck. DMH has a 4 yr warranty, no questions asked. Get with forum member C5BearsFan.....www.doubledmods.com
