Default Targa Top help - newbie

I'm a brand new 2001 vette owner and looking for some help with my top. The car came with the "glass top" but from the outside it looks faded compared to the black paint. I would even go as far as saying it almost looks dull and oxidized. From the inside it appears to have a little bit of a tint, but does not appear to have film. So my questions are, did these tops have a factory tint? Is there any way to clean up the dullness of the top? It seems to be some type of polycarbonate and not really glass. Thanks for any help, and sorry for the newbie question.

I'm not quite sure as I have a painted top but my dad has a glass top on his C4 and I believe they are factory tinted, more of a smoked like look.

The C5 top is tinted dark blue. If you do a search you will find that a lot of them have issues with the outside finish, They can be corrected with a little work.

Mr.Bill
mine was still in the factory tape/paper protection when I bought the car. It looks like a dark blue fighter plane dome when new. I have heard that they get a bit screwy when washed and cared-for improperly. Can be repaired. Good luck!

I was searching for the wrong terms, but I did finally find this write up which seems helpful.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...sh-how-to.html

I may attempt the shorter version listed in one of the replies for $20 first, before re-clearing it. Thanks for the insight.

I use Plexus http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/plexus.html and get great results. I buy it locally at a motorcyle dealership. The top on my 2001 looks like it is a dull black color until I use Plexus on it then it looks like new. I always wash it as part of a normal car wash and then remove it so I don't get overspray on the car. Give it try I think you'll be pleased.
