I was wondering if anyone toyed with making a center console mold and install of a NAV unit recessed as much as possible to give it a different look and possible reduce the sun glare on the NAV units face! Also just wodering about angle install where the unit is perfectly horizontal without any pitch. PICS? Thoughts?
wouldn't that make it a lot hard to see the screen from your seat if the nav is just perfectly vertical? I would think that would be even worse than seeing any glare that might be there.
They make some really nice, static-held, glare reduction film for IPADs. Perhaps you could cut one to fit the NAV screen.
This is the company that produces the anti-glare covers for the IPOD Touch/IPhone and IPADs. A little pricier than other cheaper options, however these work very well in reducing glare and finger prints on my electronics, so I would assume it would work for a touch screen NAV. I even bought the IPOD Touch protector and cut it to fit my wife's Droid.
Yea, I guess its not glare, just can't see that well (Poineer X920BT) the screen gets hard to see. Glare reduction film is something to look into. Dennis, in your judgement what NAV unit produces the best display in the car?
I had the same issue. I bought a really nice Kenwood unit from Crutchfield. The front face was kind of convex so during the day it had so much glare it was hard to see and impossible with the top down. I ended up taking it back out and sending it back to Crutchfield. I have m factory unit back in until I can find a decent unit that works well with verts.

i have a pioneer z110bt unit and i agree it is a bit tough to see with the top down, (i will give that anti-glare IPOD stuff a try i think) but i figure that's why it's designed to talk to me, lol!! haven't gotten lost from it yet. it really doesn't matter as long as it keeps talking to me. with the top up (remember we convertible owners have an advantage much the same as those with a FRC do) the rear window is much smaller than the hatchback greenhouse of a coupe so it's not any kind of problem at all in my opinion.
I wonder if this issue is also common with the OEM NAV systems in the C6 convertibles? This is the first I've read about the screen being almost unreadable with the convertible top down.

best picture quality would be the Sony double din units.
I can better recommend a unit too if you have a budget in mind your looking to spend on one and what features your wanting as well.

i have a buddy with a C6 convertible and the OEM NAV and his screen is no better (or worse) than mine with the top down. in fairness, it might actually be a shade better, but not much.
