but are you sure you need a new battery? the remote anti-scan technology in it so the codes it sends to your car are not always the same, and the car and remote need to be in sync. sometimes those codes can get out of sync (manual says hitting the buttons while out of range of the car can make this happen more frequently) and you just need to resync it.
put the remote close to the car and hit lock and unlock at the same time for about 8 seconds (feels like minutes while you're doing it) and see if the car beeps, remote might start working again.
check the battery to see if it needs to be changed with a voltmeter. I think the remotes can start to not work so well when they get old. the remotes for my 99 tend to only have about a 10 ft range, but the battery is still good. I changed it just to be sure once, but no effect.
