What material are they using? Let us know your thoughts when done!
- New Tunnel Plate (insulated version)
- Complete sound proofing (see previously posted link in thread for pictures of the job)
- Corbeau A4 seats
I mention the seats because they help the car feel completely "new" as well. So much more feel and control having nice race seats.
Anyhow the only way I can describe the car? More precise, more firm/rigid, more refined and definitely a nice change.
I could care less about the weight gain, the first two additions made a big difference in the feel of the car. The cabin noise was drastically reduced...there is still a good amount of tire/road noise and wind noise is there (hell, it's a Chevy sports car), but a definite and noticed improvement.
The car in general feels much more precise, poised and solid over bumps, rough roads, lane divider bumps, etc...the car just feels/sounds a bit more refined. Some less creaks/rattles for sure. Doors feel a tad more solid upon shutting, etc. The stock Bose stereo audio is more discernible at highway speeds.
I have a cabin/trunk sound divider coming as well, and I will likely try the foam that Oldvetter suggests in the rear as well. I can't wait to see what these also add (or remove
. Hoping that will help my stock stereo audio experience.Anyhow, in closing. This is some money well spent. If I had the time, room and tools...I would have done the sound proofing myself. It's sure nice though to drive in and out with what feels like a reasonably more solid/refined car.
If any of you have yet to do the tunnel plate or sound proofing for your car, don't hesitate in my opinion. I like my car even more now.
If you're in the Bay Area, look up TPS in Campbell. Did a solid job. Mike is a solid dude to deal with. He'll get more of my money.
If you have any more ?'s, feel free.
Thanks all.

PS: As far as the decibel reading - Mike said I lost 10db's in the cabin sitting in it at idle. For whatever that's worth.

Have not been on here long but already see there is a big difference in prices in different places and the total install of the sound deadening and she had to do a new install on my stereo dew to the first shop screwed it up was under 300 dollars. She felt it would take a kit and a half, ended up being two full kits after we did the doors and we lined all three back compartments in the trunk with it also. Went this far I wanted it everywhere.
I like it. Have not had the miles to see how much difference it will be but from what I see so far i'm glad we did it.

A 10 dB reduction means the audible sound is one half what it was previously.
