really, not a lot of diffrence from 99 on up as far as avaliable options goes (HUD, active handling, etc was all there in 99). I would go with the best deal I could find on the car that I liked the best. Would take any 99,00,02,03,04. Personally would be a bit nervous of the 01 due to the high oil consumption.

RPO N73 mag wheels weren't listed as optional, but were available at $1,500 in limited quantities (114). Floor mats were standard.

The usual drop/add color changes

Sounds like I'm looking for an 02 then

If you consider 1 qt. in 7000 miles high. Mine has 112K now and has never had that problem.

Many don't. Many were repaired by chevy as well. Just, if I was buying a c5 again today, it is one of the years that would make me a little nervous as the 01's have been documented as having the problem, and other years do not. If I knew the owner, and knew the particular car then an 01 would not bother me.

My 2001 burned oil like a siv. Bought it with 21k miles, it has 44k miles now.

My 2000 is only now burning the same amount of oil after 134k miles(27k miles with a supercharger).

Many 2001 cars had an oil burning issue, and it was far more than 1qt every 7000 miles. Maybe you don't drive your car hard enough?
