Grey? Be bold! What color is it that catches your eye when you see other car of various types? Do what you like, nevermind what others are gonna think. You won't please everybody! Good Luck.
If you are going with a color change for only a little more money make sure the quality is there. It takes considerably more work to properly change the cars color. From my experience many parts have to be removed including doors etc. Little more money, Lot more work don't equate.
I went on the House of Kolor site and ended up picking out a Wild Cherry, that will be mixed with black. Presently, have a small 4" X 6" panel of the mix that I can look at inside and outside to determine if it is the exact color I want. The base, wild cherry is like the sample Mr. Bill put in his reply.
Take your time and look at as many cars as you can. When you see the right color you will know. Also be aware of your interior so they will complement one another. Good Luck

I agree that if you go different, go bold. Go with something different.
When I was doing custom bikes, various shades of orange always looked the best...Tangelo Pearl was the easiest to accent with graphics or shading with the best results.
Atomic green was also a good color, but I think a car would be "too much" green.
Hous Of Kolor Graphite Pearl. Three stage base coat black, tint, or dry pearl coat and then clear. Do some detail stripes in ghost silver. Looks good we painted my son Camaro that way with SS stripes in G/S.
If you or the painter is not going to disassemble the car, you need to stick with the stock color. I cannot see how any painter would say for a little more I will do a color change. there is just way to much to do it correctly.
Also for a little more will not be a custom paint job. I bet he means a stock color done in the two step process, base coat clear coat. When you get into these custom colors there is a lot more work involved.
Again make sure he is going to disassemble the vehicle before you agree to a color change. If not you will not be happy with the final results.
