Default Beware the poo

Just a reminder of cleaning the bird poo from the car. I got poo'd last week at work. Got home and washed it off, hood and trunk. The poo on the trunk ended up scratching the #ell out of paint. This bird must have been eating sand.

Sure it was my fault for not taking more time, but this looks like it;s been keyed. Started the buffing process but not coming out very easy. I need more powerful buffer and polish. So just beware and take your time cleaning the poo this spring.

Bird Poo hit my dads Red 63 impala last week and it was removed while still wet and it slightly ever so lightly stained the top of the trunk. Even though it was cleaned off quickly we both could see a a slight discolor in the paint.
I learned my lesson right then if any Poo gets on my Z, I'm getting it off quick.

I carry a bottle of Quick Detailer and a micro cloth in one of the small cubbies in the back that I use for things like that. I won't drive it until I clean it off, esp bird poo, it can ruin your paint pretty quikly.

That sucks that your car's paint got damaged. Good luck getting it back to the way it was.

I've had bird poo leave permanent stains/etchings in the hood of a MB and the trunk of my Lexus. They were both black (the cars), the Corvette is metallic pewter so maybe I can get any off before real damage is done. A quick response is the best approach.

Its murder on paint when the blue berry bushes are blooming! My 740il got hit on the hood. I had the hood buffed, but if the light hits it just right you can still see the ghost of the spot!

HAHA... Sounds like we need to go back to using DDT as a pesticide so we can kill off the rest of the birds.

Thanks for all the condolences (spelling??). Anyway, we got the era of the birds starting at the house. We have a tree that first blooms beautiful white flowers, then some stringy stuff, then berries. The flowers fall off and get everywhere. The stringy stuff does the same. It matters not of being inside garage or out, it all seems to get around in no time. Five minuets of top down outside and it's everywhere. The pedals really stick to the paint too. Not to mention the pollen these days.

So now it will be the berry eating birds. Usually not too bad when you get on them right away. All nice pretty purple/white poo.

The stuff that killed me was the dark stuff. It must have been the sand and dirt (rocks) in the worm the bird ate. Now that's a stretch. Anyway, I just went after it too fast. I guess the last two weeks of ONR everyday, got me in a hurry.

I got hit at work again, but this time not taking any chances. Took a soaked rag with soap and water. Laid it on top of poo, let it soften up for about 10-20 mins. Then carefully wiped it up. I was at work so I had no hose.

Anyway, beware the poo. Take your time. DO NOT RUB. I've gone over mine 5 times now and can not smooth out the damage. I'll need to barrow someone's heavier buffer and get some heavier polish to see if I can get the BIG mistake out.

Mine got hit yesterday. It must have been a turkey buzzard or pelican, man it started at the nose and covered the hood and windshield. There was some much bird crap that hit the windshield it splattered under the hood lip and was all on the inside of the screen vents. What a mess. I just left it alone, this was at noon, and drove straight to the house and hit it with the house. Funny driving home I could only see out my side of windshield. I washed the car yesterday evening after I got home from work.

Yeah you want to float that stuff off, never wipe it.

Birds must eat fine rock or gravel in order for them to grind/digest their food. The gravel then goes out with the poo. So, most any poo you see may have some of this very fine gravel in it. That's why I thoroughly soak any dried or drying poo that gets on my car or boat before carefully removing it. It is actually safer if you remove it with the water pressure from a hose and don't touch it with a rag at all.

I got some pretty bad spots off my truck hood with my PC and some Adam's products. Perhaps that is something you could try. Good luck.
