2 years ago i put in a a&a super charger and to handle the extra power a monster clutch and lighten flywheel rated for 800hp i have not put anymore than 10,000 miles on it just street driven i do get after it here and there but i dont hamer the snot out of it. 03 z06 527 hp at the rear wheel. it wont shift in any gear unless i shut the car offthen i can shift right through the gears. if i start it in gear cluthch all the way in i can feel it engage alittle. and going down the road it wont shift. so i had to shut it off put it in 2nd to get home. what do you corvette wizzes think
Sounds like clutch problems. Not necessarily Flywheel Disk Pressure Plate. Could be one of those but also could be master cylinder slave cylinder/throwout bearing.
Assuming it worked fine before, and this is a new condition, and you replaced the master/slave/pilot when you did the clutch, it's probably the master isn't flowing enough fluid, or it's contaminated. First off, replace and flush your clutch fluid, and use the best DOT3-4 you can find. If this has no effect, then it's most likely the master or slave. A Tick master is alot better than the factory unit, and can be changed w/o dropping the TQ tube, and all that work. If that doesn't work, it's time to tear into it.
i changed the fluid and i bleed it. remote bleed. a friend of mine who is a mechanic thinks throwout bearing or presure plate. i put alot of money in the car drove it 3 hrs to have the supercharger and monster stage 3 clutch kit. it seems like i may have to pay fpr a local tear down. and for the money i paid for the clutch i wont be to happy if the problim is in there. street driven only with a few show off burn outs here and there. if it is some part of the clutch what should i do? replace the part or go with a different brand. i dont what to have to go in there again.who makes the best or strongest trouble free clutch for street driven and alittle getting after it here and there.
Thing is, is that if it is the slave, its a GM part and not a Monster brand. I believe that the pressure plate, and disc is what Monster makes. I would look up PRE-Z06 or call Steve at Monster and let one of them know whats going on. If it is in fact a bad pressure plate or disc, they will be helpful about the situation.
shop took it out and the clutch was smoked. shop said def defected clutch. called monster gave me half price on a new on.not to happy it was out of warranty so only half off. will never buy a monster again for the money i have into haveing it done twice could have bought a duel or something alot stronger. wouldnt be to upset if it was raced or draged but street driven only in a small town.with all new parts the first time i had it done. maybe others have had good luck but i wouldnt chance it again paying full price
Sorry to hear that the Monster was "smoked"
YOU never mentioned if on the initial install IF you had a new GM slave, GM or Tick clutch master cylinder installed at the same time ?.
A local Z owner with a s/c c5z had a monster clutch. He replaced it with a twin disc - and wishes he would have gone with the twin first. Here's the thread:
