Default dash part removal

Does anyone know how to remove the small part of the dash, just to the left of the steering column. Its the same part that houses the fog light and the hatch release, or trunk, since its a C5 vert. Sorry no pic's but I think you know what I'm talking about.

Just use a thin small standard screwdriver to pop it off.

If you just want the fog light/trunk release housing off, yes, it just pops out with a thin blade screwdriver. If you want the rest of that part of the dash out, look at instructions on the Vette Essentials web site - should be something there.

while the switches and bezel do pop out with a screwdriver, the part surrounding them comes off as part of the knee bolster.

If you are removing the knee bolster it pops out at the lower outside corner, then lift UP and out to pop out the top holder. UP is important!

Found 2 screws on the bottom of the knee bolster. I'm assuming those come out also, right?

Follow the instructions on Vette Essentials web site. Yes, there are two torx head screws at the bottom but I think you have to remove the senor cover on the right of the steering column and remove that screw also. Not sure but there may be a screw under the fog/hatch release. There are clips that hold the panel on also but you just pull for those. You don't want to break anything so go to VE web site for detailed instructions as to where to pull and location of screws.

You're right about the screws behind the fog light/ hatch release and sensor cover. Came off pretty easy after all the good info. Had to take the console pieces off also, not for that reason though. A friend of ours is going to paint some parts on the wifes AE vert Looks like a tornado went through the car! Thanks guys for all the info. This forum rocks! By the way I couldn't find anything on the VE site concerning that part of the car. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

Look for the procedure to install the Hyper=Flash signal bypass, that goes right in there and should show the steps for removing the knee bolster.

Of course, you've got it out already, so no idea why Im answering aside from the fact that you asked

By the way, I just brought up the VE site and didn't find anything on the hyper=flash signal bypass. Are you sure its on that site?
