kudos to Evil Twin
It is an excellent forum, great information, and i have had the pleasure of meeting a few senior members, at various corvette events.
This post is not directed to the majority of forum members, but to the shall we say, uniformed few.
I have seen several posts and follow ups bashing Bill, (aka Evil Twin) reguarding his insights and advice on the c-5 of which he had a hand in seeing come to life,
I personally, have met and talked in depth over the years with several, current and retired corvette designers and engineers, at various events that i attend, most notably corvettes at carlisle,Bloomington Gold, and Bowling Green. Dave McClellan, Dave Hill, John cafero,Joe Spielman,Will Cooksey to name a few.
Let me say this, Each and every engineer and members of the design team have a true dedication to the corvette, and just about all of them are corvette owners.
Bill is not even touching the surface of what those guys went through to bring the c-5 to life.
The missed vacations, long workdays, and weekends and time from their families to bring us the car we love.
I have owned 2 corvettes, but this is my first c-5,and my prior c-3's do not even come close to the level of performance, cargo space, comfort and longevity our cars have built into them. Thanks to the hard work and dedication by Bill and his peers.
It is scary how close the corvette came to extinction,by the upper management at GM,but these guys fought them aLL The way to preserve the heritage and bring us the c-5,which evolved into the c-6,and soon c-7.
I take Bills advice to heart, and for one am grateful for the posts.
So if you want to cut corners, to save a couple of dollars, wether it be on oil, coolant, thermostats fuel, be my guest.
But DO NOT try to contradict a man who, like his peers poured his heart and soul into the c-5,and whom does know the cars better then you or I.
So in closing, many thanks ET, keep up the welcomed advice, and lets enjoy our cars. Im done.

ET WAS A GREAT HELP TO ME ON SEVERAL PROBLEMS I HAD. THE BOOK "ALL CORVETTES ARE RED" IS A GREAT READ ON THE C5 DEVELOPMENT
The last time someone posted up a thread like this, it invited several of the unappreciative members another opportunity to bash him. It didn't go well...

E-T is one of those invaluable assets. He lived and breathed the design and production of this car. When he speaks, people should listen because he knows what he's talking about.
It's easy for members to challenge him - but he tells it how it is and some people don't want to hear that. I for one have learned a lot of what I know about this car by listening to the experts here. E-T is head and shoulders above all of us.

Sad that this post will degenerate into the "He said, she said" bickering. Standing by!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

It's not often you can ask a question about whatever and get answers from an engineer who was involved directly with the the item you asking about. In our case the C5 and I'm still suprised he takes the time to answer questions. Keep the posts coming ET, I enjoy and learn a lot from what your write. If any one wants to know how the C5 came to be, I suggest you go down to your local Library and get "All Corvettes are Red". I read the book a few months ago and learned some things about how GM works and what went into the almost cancelled C5 project. I read it twice and picked up on some things I didn't the first time, and I want you to know I'm not a book reading type at all. I usually wait until a movie is made and I'm in and out in less than 2 hrs. But I really enjoyed reading this one! A must read for all C5 owners.
