I bought a set of chrome show bars and gave them a try at a car show last weekend. Question I have is on the Interior lighting with the doors proped open. I always thought that the Interior lighting turns off after 15 Minutes, is this true or did I get the wrong Info. I had them in for about 4 hours, and my car barely started when time to go. Does anyone know for sure if they turn off after a period of time, or do I have to disconnect my battery when I use the show bars. When Installed, they do latch the door handle catch. Any input would be great, Thanks
mine off after 15 min , do many shows each year and my doors are open without bars , trunk too. I did disconnect the light under the hood , mine some of the time would run the battery down , short or something, got rid of it all together.
like the underhood lamp, any movement however slight will re-activate the lights again for another 15 (or so) minute cycle. if the doors "rock" a bit on the bars and the weather is a bit breezy, that could be a cause. in addition, if those conditions exist, there is a good chance that your hood light also kept re-cycling. of course the timer relay could be shot and causing it also.
the car is designed to keep the battery from running down with a delayed 15 minute switch off system on the interior lights, yours just aren't cooperating.

Most likely whats happening. I noticed with my hood open the other day that if you touch the hood and it jiggles a little it will reactivate that light even with just a slight movement.

It's not my Hood light, I removed it years ago. Only thing that has changed is having a door show bar in...

yes, but it will behave in the same manner. the fact that your hood light is no longer isn't a factor. if you DID have one, i would be pretty comfortable tell you that the hood light would also be on or at least going on and off with the slightest change of position. the door sensitivity would behave in a similar way. unless those bars lock the door in a position that will keep it from moving even ever so slightly, that could be doing it. as i previously mentioned, it could also be that the delay relay took a dump.
