Default HVAC question

Well, despite laying about a hundred dryer sheets on and in the 98 while it was in storage last winter, it smells like I have a corpse on board somewhere. The (very repulsive) odor seems to come right out the dash vents when fans come on. It is really bad and then isn't really noticable after the air circulates for a minute or two. I'm not sure if that is because the odor has built up while the car is sitting there and "clears out" after blowing for a while, or if maybe the AC comes on and the source of the smell is outside the AC system? Doesn't the HVAC go into recirc mode when the AC is on? Anyway:

1. can anyone tell me where the outside air enters the HVAC system?
2. anyone have any suggestions? (the FSM has a procedure that involves drilling holes and stuff that I'm not too excited about).

I used a spray product from NAPA last year to remove the stale A/C odor when it is first turned on. It sprays in at the air inlet at the base of the outside windshield. It comes with directions and it worked fine. Yours may not be the A/C odor but this may help. With the A/C, it's always a good habit to turn off the compressor and leave the fan run for a few minutes before shutting off the car. I try to remember to do it a few blocks before I park it. Good luck with the odor problem
