Default 2001 Z colum lock

Hi need some help here! bought my z in late july last year couple months later went to leave my friends house went to pull out car shut off i looked down and got the service colum lock wait ten seconds thing. my steering wheel was locked. Got my car towed to chevy dealer it was sitting outside for 5 days and the still didnt touch it or even give me a time frame. So labor day i went down there to clean all the bird poop off it started the car and it unlocked! so i stole my car back and called them the next day to tell them im taking my buisness somewhere else. A week later a guy at work says he knows a corvette mechanic that works at watson he gave me his number and he installed the smaller locking plate cost me 250 not bad if it never happened again but i went to get in my car saturday and it came up on the dash AGAIN!!!!!!! I can turn the wheel but the car shuts off at 2 MPH what should i do what is causing this now i called the mechanic and he doesnt think its the colum lock just want some input Please help me

I don't think this topic has ever been discussed before.

Scroll down until you find the section on column lock. There are also some links with more info. There is TONS of info on this subject. Use the search function in the red tool bar above. I think the column lock has to be in the retracted (unlocked) position for the CLB to work. Good luck.
